Duane was actively involved in sports his entire life. He learned very young that if you play as a team, great things will happen. He played hockey in Port Dover for most of his years in Minor Hockey. During the 2001-2002 Season he was part of the Port Dover team that won the OMHA Championships. He was also lucky enough to win the championship title during his highschool years with the football team at Hagersville Secondary School. His fitness level and interest in football drove him to try out for the McMaster Marauders, with whom he trained and practiced. Ultimately school became a priority. Throughout his years he was involved in hockey, soccer, and football. He also played baseball, ultimate frisbee and wrestled. Duane made great friends and developed skills required to succeed in life, through sports.
It is our goal to provide financial support for children to participate in team sports, who may not otherwise have the opportunity to do so. To achieve this goal - we donate some of our proceeds to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program & designate the money to be used in the Haldimand-Norfolk chapter.
In 2023 we were able to donate $3000 to Canadian Tire Jumpstart making our total donation since 2011 $56,500* (plus an additional $4000 donated in matching program by Canadian Tire Caledonia & Dunnville stores in 2017 AND an additional $6000 from Caldedonia Canadian Tire store in 2019.
Duane’s success in University prompted him to start his own business. We would also like to support Hagersville Secondary School students in their pursuit of post secondary education. To achieve this goal - we will award scholarship(s) each year to provide financial assistance to those students in need who demonstrate a passion for sports.
